LITTLE GAME FARM NEAR VAALDAM

 

 

This idyllic peace of land is situated about 3 km downstream of the Vaal dam wall but not on the river and was the original farmyard of the farm Veekraal. The property consists of two smallholdings with an area of 12 hectares and is game fenced. An inner fence (1,8m high diamond mesh) in the middle of the property surrounds the yard of about 2 hectares. A small stream crosses the land from South to North in which a small farm dam was constructed.

 

The property was developed in such a way that it creates a feeling of being on holiday somewhere in the Bushveld. The house is of wooden construction of 18m x 18m with a 2m “stoep” all round. The inside of the house is open plan with a knotty pine ceiling following the roof slope, with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. Because of the building style any number of options do exist to change i.e. adding more bedrooms etc.

 

There are two boreholes equipped with a windmill as well as a submersible pump each.

At this stage no rates and taxes is payable. Power supply is by the use of Solar Panels with a 24 Volt supply and a 1,5 kW inverter. This power supply is adequate for normal household appliances including a twin tub washing machine and wifies hair dryer. Driving the submersibles and hubbies power tools is a 17 kVA gen-set.

 

No place can be called a farm without animals! 10 Springbuck, 14 Blesbuck, 6 Ostriges and 3 Emoe’s – a pair currently breeding and last year’s chick.

 

No place can be called a farm without a barn and “kraal”. The barn is 20m x 15m and the kraal was build with local stone and is 26m x 13m in size of which 26m x 2,5m is roofed with a paved floor.
